How To: Join Two Areas in an L-Shape
How To: Join Two Areas in an L-Shape
Updated over a week ago

Start with your first skillion – this will be Area 1

It’s a good idea to set your roof sheet and gutter type and colours so they are automatically signed to your second area when it’s added

Navigate to the top right of the screen and select “Add Area”

This will bring up the ADD NEW AREA pop-up which allows you to choose the attributes of Area 2

Once you have selected which features to copy across to the Area 2, choose where to add it

ADD TO START will place it to the left of Area 1

ADD TO END will place it to the right of Area 1

Select the Joining Method button between the two Areas in the top right of the screen - the default attachment is “STRAIGHT”

Select “L-Shape 1

This flips Area 2 90 degrees anti-clockwise

The software will automatically keep an attachment at the connected edges but the attachments can be deleted

If this box is ticked, the length of Area 1 will be increased by the width of Area 2

BUT

If you increase the width of Area 2, the length of Area 1 will increase as well

Cut-outs and angles can still be added to either area in the same way as if they were individual areas

Just remember to choose the Area you want to modify at the top of the Properties Tab

The corners of Area 2 are the same as if it was still oriented the same as Area 1

When changing the properties of each area, make sure you select the Area you are working on

Selecting Area 1 will open the properties of Area 1

** You must confirm that Engineering passes in each Area **

o All the structural components in Area 1 are passing but there is still a red cross

o Check the components in Area 2 to find the problem and fix the issue

In this job, the software has added a post at the end of the angled beam

This can be removed by selecting that beam and “Turning Off” that Start Post
